8 weeks comparison

After 4 weeks of feeling like my skin was ready to crack open and seeing no progress, it seems like my skin is finally calming down. I’m seeing some clearing on my arms but the rest of my body looks the same but feels so much better. During those four or so weeks I couldn’t servive without having ebsom baths every two days and lathering up on cream. I did go back to simplifying my diet. Every time I add something and think it’s safe when I really don’t actually know, my skin either reacts or the healing progress is slow at best. Like the tea I was adding to my slippery elm bark powder. I know it’s gluten free but it does have citric acid. So did the V8 juice I was drinking in order to get more veggies in my system. I don’t know if that was causing a flair up but I did read of one psoriasis sufferer who said they were sensitive to vitamin C. Further research lead me to this article you might find interesting.http://www.healwithfood.org/psoriasis/can-citrus-fruits-trigger-eczema-psoriasis.php

So in a nutshell, I simply went back to what I was eating in the first two weeks.... nothing. Ha ha! Not really nothing. Actually it’s not that bad. Here is what my typical meal plan looks like.

Morning:
Buckwheat cooked in coconut milk, topped with raspberry’s, blackberries and shredded coconut, drizzled with honey. An apple and banana for snack mid morning.
(I traded buckwheat out for oatmeal because I read buckwheat can be good for your gut health.)

Lunch or dinner (depending what I’m craving)
-Grilled or roasted chicken with roasted vegetables
-ground turkey cooked in onions and garlic served with quinoa and topped with avacado or cilantro.
-sweet potato fries (my fav!)
-cabbage soup

Afternoon snack:
-Chopped up baby spinach, cucumbers, cabbage, celery,  Basil... basically anything I can find that’s green, tossed in olive oil. Apple cider vinegar (the only vinegar deemed safe for Psoriasis) and a little sea salt and pepper.
-Mini cucumbers (yum) and carrots. (It was a little hard to get used to eating veggies without dip  but since we all know you get the most nutrients raw and I’m staying away from dairy, it had to be done. I found it easiest to eat while working on the computer.  I could mindlessly down a half a quart bag of fresh cut veggies like it was potato chips)

After dinner:

-another Apple (I started doing this because Dr Pagano suggests doing a three day apple fast in order to get things moving along down in the intestines. I’m still nursing my 7 month old so that’s not going to happen. But two apples a day is doing the trick)

If I’m really in the mood for something sweet I might have roasted banana with shredded coconut and honey on top.

So, not a large selection but hey, I’m alive! And my skin feels better. All in all it’s totally worth it!!
Good night everyone!
